01Narrative

Petopentia, commonly known as propeller vine, is a genus of plant in the family Apocynaceae first described as a genus in 1954.Bullock, Arthur Allman. 1954. Kew Bulletin 1954: 362Tropicos, genus Petopentia It contains only one known species, Petopentia natalensis, native to the Province of KwaZulu-Natal in eastern South Africa.Gibbs Russell, G. E., W. G. M. Welman, E. Retief, K. L. Immelman, G. Germishuizen, B. J. Pienaar, M. Van Wyk & A. Nicholas. 1987. List of species of southern African plants. Memoirs of the Botanical Survey of South Africa 2(1–2): 1–152(pt. 1), 1–270(pt. 2). This genus should not be confused with the related genus with a similar name, Pentopetia.
