Asplenium montamun atau yang dikenal sebagai "Mountain Spleenwort" merupakan spesies paku-pakuan dari Famili Aspleniaceae. Tanaman ini tergolong dalam paku hijau abadi tahunan, dengan rimpang yang pendek dan tegak. Kelompok daunnya berjarak 1 hingga 4 inci. Daun tanaman ini berwarna hijau kebiruan yang tebal dengan tekstur kaku. Dedaunan terbagi dalam enam pasang atau lebih yang terbagi lagi menjadi segmen yang lebih kecil dengan lobus kecil. Paku ini pertama kali ditemukan di area Danau Mohonk, New York sekitar tahun 1870. Area pertumbuhan Mountain Spleenwort biasanya merupakan area yang sulit di akses. Habitat asli tanaman ini terletak di sepertiga bagian utara Alabama. Mountain Spleenwort merupakan tanaman vaskular yang muncul di celah-celah batu pasir atau batuan asam serta batuan berlumut. Akar tumbuhan ini berkembang biak dengan batang horizontal yang melengkung ke atas. Tumbuhan ini bersifat monomorfik dengan kondisi daun steril dan daun subur tidak memiliki perbedaan. Seperti paku-pakuan pada umumnya, Mountain Spleenwort berkembang biak dengan spora. Sporangia atau tempat pembentukan spora terdapat di permukaan bagian bawah daun. Sporangia terkelompokkan dalam sori tersusun sepanjang pembuluh daun. Sori tumbuhan ini dilapisi insidium tembus cahaya yang kecil. Tangkai daun tanaman ini berwarna coklat gelap ke hitam dengan tutupan berupa sisik lanset hitam di pangkal. Status tanaman ditetapkan oleh Pemerintahan US yakni Threatened (terancam) pada daerah Connecticut, New York, dan Vermont, Endangered pada daerah Indiana, Massachusetts, dan Rhode Island, dan Probably Extirpated di Michigan.
